Music is supposed to mean something to people, supposed to be enjoyable, delightful, soulful, unreal, inspiring, the list could go on. Where has it all gone? The artists. Where have the artists gone? You can stop reading this now and listen to your soulless shit that took over ten people to write because society's artists are too lazy/cool to write their own music. Or you could stay and listen and remember what you used to feel when you listened to real music for the first time. The first time you heard that song that made you realize a memory, a person, a place, a moment. A feeling. That one song that you couldn't wait to get home to download. That song that took the darkness away that surrounded your guts. That song that freed your inner peace. That song. It speaks to you in only ways that no one else can. It has all your emotions wrapped up into those very lines that read exactly how you feel. Somehow its telling your whole life through beautiful poetry and you are amazed. You are so amazed you end up calling the one that got away. You see them and fall instantly in love again because of that one song.
It brings up impulses in you. You want to do something, be something, because with that song you know you can. You feel invincible. You want everyone to know this song, yet you hide it away because you discovered it and its your property. You want them to know how you feel. You post lyrics, sentences, poems, but no one can ever feel what you feel with that song. Its yours.
You turn on the radio and it wont be played because that song isn't respected by the entertainment industry. The singer isn't noticed, and nor is the band. Bullshit. The media vomits teenage clones. Where is the individuality? Where is the unique generation of today? I'll tell you where, wiping Bieber's arse. Young adolescents of today no longer have the choice to be free. They are constantly surrounded with disastrous noise that becomes part of their taste. They are forced to listen to deceiving sound. Deceiving voices that crave their pocket money. It's too late now. They're caught up. Their eighty-something is spent waiting for their 'favourite' homewrecker to appear on stage. To manipulate them even more. What has happened.
What happened to the bands that played for free just because they feel so much emotion just to play for someone to hear? What happened to the singers that sit there for hours writing their own music for it not to be heard? What happened to the audiences that really felt something when they hear a note or a riff? What happened to the creativity? The artists? The passion? What happened to feeling infinite.
Now you go find that song you thought about when you started reading this. Listen to it, think about how it makes you feel, who it makes you think of, what you want to be, who you want to be, who you want to love and what you want to love. Open your mind once again and dive in to the world of music. And I don't mean Itunes Top Ten Number 1's in the charts. Dive into you.
